Wobble Dogs is a dog-themed simulator created by Animal Uprising, and the game is all about creating dogs with interesting mutations and having fun with them!!!
REMINDER: WOBBLE DOGS ARE THEIR OWN SPECIES, DO NOT GIVE YOUR REAL DOG ANY OF THE FOOD ITEMS MENTIONED IN THIS ARTICLE… DON’T MUTATE YOUR DOG TOO!
Like I said before, Wobble Dogs is… well, MOSTLY about creating dogs with some strange mutations. The reason I say ‘mostly’ is because there is so much more you can do! There isn’t really an ending for Wobble dogs unless you count on having all items and having a heavy amount of mutations on a dog, but I think that gives it a reason to come back every so often on MULTIPLE platforms! The game is still being updated, bringing more mutations and items to have fun with. The items you can give to your dogs are usually furniture or dog toys, but there is also FOOD that you can give to your dogs, which can also mutate your Wobble Dog through FLORA!!!
That was my short description about the game. I’ll now describe each individual game feature with my own opinion and occasionally some tips!
Wobble Dogs, also known as just ‘dogs’, are their own species in Wobble Dogs. Usually, when you start a Wobble Dogs save file, you start with some plain normal dogs with a pink squared body, a cyan colored head and cyan colored legs. Dogs on their own are kind of boring without their COOLER features!!

Traits are a feature of Wobble Dogs, which makes it, so every dog is unique and special! (besides the MUTATIONS!!) There are 7 Dog traits, and dogs can be given either a good or a bad version of these traits! Traits are also given randomly with varied amounts. There are also categories for each dog trait, I’ll go over each of them!

Social is a trait a dog can have and it determines how social 1 dog is to the other or how much they want to be around other dogs. A dog can be ‘Aloof’ Which they don’t interact with any other dogs or ‘Social’ in which they interact with other dogs a lot more.

Energy is a trait a dog can have that determines how often the dog tends to sleep more, jump more, sit more or any other heavily moving activities. A dog can have the ‘layabout’ trait (me for real) in which they don’t do activities, unlike sleeping, as likely as ‘high energy’, which, you guessed it, tends for dogs to do more activities!!!

The Food trait affects how much a dog eats, which if you have a dog that doesn’t eat at all can really slow your day if you want a specific modification on your dog, however the up-side trait completely changes that as the glutton trade as they eat A LOT of food, fatties.

Mischief is a trait of how evil your dog is. While it hasn’t been completely understood so far in the community, they’ve estimated that it’s how likely your dog is to be angry, in which they can stop doing activities or even THROW DOGS. Antagonistic dogs are sometimes always in a bad mood; something tells me it won’t do good with the social trait. Peaceful dogs are the saints given down from dog heaven and are the kindest dogs you’ll see, and they won’t really get angry a whole lot.

Loudness is a trait that affects how many times your dog barks. If your dog has the ‘loud’ trait they’re more likely to bark and an awesome bonus is how LOUD they bark, it can be pretty loud sometimes when they bark and there isn’t a whole lot you can do about it. Quiet dogs seemed to have zip-locked their mouth as they do not bark at ALL.

And finally, a pretty interesting trait a dog may acquire is the unpettable trait. You see, all of the other traits have a good and bad version, and I guess the good version of this trait is just not having it? It will make them mad and growl at you if you ever pet it at ALL. On a sidenote, you do get the ‘Oh No’ achievement.

Now to be honest I think getting a bad option on a dog is almost just as good or even BETTER than a dog with an up-side as it’s something new and can’t be chosen through the mutation section when starting a dog’s life, well, SOMETIMES you can notice if a dog has the high energy trait and they’re jumping up and down BUT THAT’S BESIDES THE POINT! It’s still so cool seeing a dog with different traits, it even gives them something unique on top of the mutation and speaking of mutations.
Mutations for me, this is the best and MAIN part of Wobble Dogs! Occasionally, a dog may lay an… egg?! (small chance it’s a DUD egg, which can’t be used at all) In which you put into this machine, which will give you the option to… mix two dogs’ DNA to create a brand-new dog…? Eugh, a massive litter of dogs appear in a green and black room (not connected to the room you start with). Your job is to then either select a dog and choose that to be the new dog or mix 2 different dogs’ DNA to create a brand-new litter of puppies. On Occasion, you may notice some changes within the dogs, usually boiling down to whatever they ate before having their DNA… mixed.

Trust me, it’s quite strange, feels like a horror game at the start, but contrasts with the new litter of wobble dogs appearing before your eyes can adjust. My favorite part has to be just seeing new types of ‘modifications’ they can range from cute little tails to missing limbs, it definitely makes every dog different!
Pupation is also a little questionable… It’s a form of a Wobble dogs in which they go into a cocoon like state and chill in the cocoon till they pop out with some minor differences. They also which change their ‘age rank’

This is also just a big, massive mystery to Wobble Dogs. Where did they get a cocoon? Has this technique been passed through their DNA? Can they turn into a BUTTERFLY?? The game is so blinded with cuteness; you never answer these questions until you wake up in bed with a cold sweat just thinking about wobble dogs.
Food are a critical item to acquire during your Wobble Dogs adventure. You usually unlock these through achievements, sometimes ranging from a dog having to eat a table to getting a dog without limbs (they’re chill with it by the way!!!!) But food itself doesn’t matter a lot, but what’s in it does

Flora is the equivalent of naming the baby a boy without knowing its gender. Flora is contained in food in that you feed it to said wobble dogs for a little chance of one of their offspring having the said features, or possibly it being represented in Pupation. Flora is different in each food time occasionally sharing the same ones if it’s under a category (Dogs can eat the cocoon from Pupation and they can also eat dud eggs from other dogs, both sets of ‘food’ share the same flora: Crysilia, it can give their off-spring a random number of legs as well as giving them a random mutation on the side.)

Flora is really useful for getting your Wobble dog’s off-spring to a certain mutation. Sadly, it won’t work during pupation although things like Caudi Caudi which can stretch out a dog’s nose just a little without adding or removing body features will appear after your dog has pupate!
It’s actually really just a crucial thing you need in Wobble dogs to see it change, you might be able to get it randomly without the need of flora during the middle of the mutation selection, but it is extremely rare for that to happen, so it’s always handy just to keep the flora around.
Actions are pretty self-explanatory here. If you click on a dog, it will give you an array of options, such as sleeping or going to eat some food. Those are the baby’s first selection, selecting on the dog, then selecting the ‘command’ option gives some little dance moves a dog can do, like sitting or making the dog bark. Petting the dog, holding down mouse 1 while rubbing the dog, or selecting the praise command option adds to their reinforcement bar, causing them to do the action more and more (the maximum being four bars). On the flip side, if you were to select the scold command on a dog, it is trained to do the action less and less, resulting in them not doing it at all.

I like this feature of wobble dogs as it gives it some more realism, like they’re 100 percent real dogs and totally don’t relate to bugs and insects in any way. I like the combinations you could do with personalities and actions, like this would be horrific if I were to have a dog with a loud personality and I praised it for barking.
Building is another action of Wobble dogs, but I sectioned it off as it’s more complex. The Wobble dogs usually start by making a small little dirt floor, You’re able to command dogs to dig up dirt for creating a den or they dig it up themselves, they’re able to get about one piece of dirt from digging up holes in the ground, there is also an additional item that they can get randomly, those being little toys or food dispensers. The more dirt they have, the more likely they are to start making dens, and if they clump twenty dirt pieces and bring them to the dirt ground together, they’re able to make dirt dents, which act more like dog homes on top of the little cage you’re observing them from.
When you look inside dirt dens, it is how it’s described as a den. Dogs can dig further in their den to expand it, although I don’t think they can get like a massive house. Dog dens can even be changed with the use of the item, the ‘den upgrader’; they can’t really grow large, but they can change design based on the type of den upgrader! Those being Halloween, grocery store or even jungle themed! But there are so many more!!
I think what I really like about dens is the fact that dogs are able to hoard dog toys and chuck ’em into their den, sort of clarifying “yeah this is my den pls don’t steal” and I love it because of them.
Items are a generally varied topic in Wobble dogs; you usually gain items from either capsules dogs dig up or through achievements. Most of the time, these items can be movable, immovable or even food dispensers!
Moveable objects are most representative of real dog toys! Being frisbees, newspapers, dog bones and more!!! Something bouncy and that you can chuck around towards dogs and they really like it!!! Wobble dogs even get happier playing around with little toys calming them down if they’re sad
Immovable objects are a little funny, some being fans that when turned on push dogs away or literally a punching bag, it’s always a sweet treat getting immovable objects!! They don’t really do much for the dogs but you get to see them flip around.
Food dispensers really sell themselves here, there are currently six food dispensers in game all being unlockable through either achievements or capsules! Although the foods inside also are unlockable. Food dispensers usually have 5 to 9 foods in them!! Some foods are even unlockable and usable WITHOUT the need of a food dispenser!!

Now for the rest of this article I will deep dive into my own thoughts and opinions so I hope you’re ready for me to non-stop talk about how great this game is!
Wobble Dogs really is a nice break from indie games, it’s like how I wish most pet caring games are. It’s just so cute seeing your little wobble dog walk so carefully or get angry and start flinging around other dogs or something, and if there’s really nothing else to do the achievement section should last you a lifetime. Even restarting a new save gives it a big breath of fresh air, as all mutations are generally random in the processing!!! And with the colorful playdough like artstyle contained in this game really is something special.
As for flaws there are like only 2 gripes about this game from me. First of all unlocking items takes AGES. I’ve heard around that some people can’t even get a single table or item even though they’ve been on the save file for almost 15 hours!! It’s outrageous but to be fair the game is more focused on your dogs. And actually speaking of dogs I went through a Wobble Dogs hiatus too. There’s just a stage in the game where all you’re doing is waiting for a dog to hatch an egg, which could just give you a mutation you’re not happy with, and even if you have a full amount of dogs in your pen it takes ages just for a single dog to lay an egg!!
And that’s all my frustrations and compliments towards this game!! Even with the flaws I described, it’s absolutely magical, just seeing your world progress and your little dogs grow up and have all those… BEAUTIFUL mutations!
