Slime Rancher 2 is Really Good!

Steam link: Slime Rancher 2

Slime Rancher 2 is the second instalment in the Slime Rancher series made by Monomi Park. It serves as a sequel and also a continuation of the story, so you need to play Slime Rancher 1 to understand it, but you can totally play Slime Rancher 2 first. There are some little references, secrets, and other tidbits if you play Slime Rancher 1, so I highly recommend playing the original.

But anyway, the main goal of Slime Rancher 2 is to collect slimes, feed them, take care of them, grow your farm and maximise profits while crafting gadgets and exploring the mysterious rainbow island and the secrets it holds.

But mostly, Slime Rancher is a game about slimes. What are slimes? Slimes are gelatinous ball shaped (mostly), alien creatures that originate from a planet called the far, far range, where you cultivate crop, feed the crop to the slimes, make a thing called plorts, and you sell those plorts on the market for money, continuing the cycle: grow, feed, sell, expand and explore

Those are your main objectives but oh no your slimes like different foods thats where interchangeable grow plots and chicken farms, but the game makes this easier for you because there are four types of food but three main ones which are veggies fruit and meat and nectar which is kind of a food but only one slime eats nectar so I don’t know if i count that BUT anyway.

You can split every slime in the game into these categories, but then say a slime you have eats a food that you don’t grow. You can feed it a plort of another slime that eats the food you want it to eat, and it will now eat that food because now it’s a largo. Argos are a mix of two slimes. They are larger than pure slimes and cannot be sucked into your vacuum pack (your backpack thingamajig), but they can be held and thrown.

Also largos are bigger and they give you two plorts a plort for both of the slimes that got mixed eg i have a slime that is a rock slime and i have a slime plort that is for a flower slime then if you feed the flower slime plort to the rock slime it will be a rock flower largo and it will produce a rock slime plort and a flower slime plort BUT if you feed a flower slime a rock slime plort it will also be a rock flower largo so it goes both ways and there is also a Gordo slimes which are impossible to make but you can find them in designated areas around the game they usually block important parts of the game like doors and paths to other areas making it so if you want to progress you need find a way to move them.

Now I wanna talk about plorts but what are plorts, plorts get produced whenever you feed a slime it will produce a plort, plorts can be sold at the plort market at the plort market where plort prices fluctuate and ay you sell a lot of one type of plort next day that price will probably drop a little so maybe you need to sell a different types of plort for the day so it kind of incentivise you to have a wide array of different types of slimes so you aren’t making less money it also kind of helps push you out of your comfort zone by getting you to find different slimes and explore because if you look at the market the farther right on the board the more each plortis worth because the map is kind of linear so the further out you explore the more interesting and weird the slimes get but also how much each plort is worth because you might have 4 really rare slimes and their plorts sell for a lot and you also have 20 really common slimes those 4 rare plorts are probably going to sell for more than 20 of those common plorts so you can also mix and match the slimes like i was talking about before with the largos and  gordos

But anyway, to sum it up, Slime Rancher 2 is a game about exploration, farm management and making maximum profit at your farm while being the proud owner of your cute little slimes, but it is also about the mysterious rainbow island where something isn’t right?.
